RHS Resilient Garden
‘RHS Resilient Garden' is Tom Massey’s first book. Published by Dorling Kindersly and written in close collaboration with the Royal Horticultural Society science team, ‘RHS Resilient Garden' is a future focused book grounded in the latest RHS research. It details how to work in conjunction with nature and adapt our outdoor spaces, using design principles, methods and techniques to support wildlife and promote biodiversity, giving our gardens and the surrounding environment the best chance of flourishing with uncertain climactic conditions ahead.
Faced with an unpredictable and unprecedented future, the rapidly changing climate presents gardeners with fresh challenges; summer droughts, winter water-logging, high winds, erratic frosts; and new pests and diseases affecting plant health are just some of the issues many gardeners may face in different regions around the world.
Discover how to analyse your soil, how a hedge can trap pollution, how to harvest and use rainwater and how to create a beautiful and sustainable garden whatever your plot size, while attracting and supporting essential wildlife and featuring edible plants to forage for your table.
The climate crisis can often leave us feeling helpless and impotent, but with a sustained collaborative effort we can make a difference with our outside space, whatever the size. We can garden more sustainably, create space for and support wildlife, mitigate extreme weather conditions, allow more wildness; and ensure our outdoor spaces remain resilient, beautiful and inspiring places for years to come.
